The Department of Chemistry Malaysia is made up of laboratory network throughout the country, providing scientific analysis, investigation and consultancy to government agencies. It aims to support law enforcement together with the implementation of programmes related to water safety, food, environment and industrial products to protect and develop public health and safety to The public, and protect the interests of consumers as well as health and safety at the workplace.

The Department also provides technical and consultancy services in the following areas:

  1. Valuation of product specifications for government contracts.
  2. To ensure the value of government expenditure;
  3. Customs Tariff classification article for import/export
  4. For the purpose of leasehold collection and to ensure the government’s revenue and evaluation of chemical laboratorium for compliance with ISO standards.

Food products and various industrial goods intended for export are also analyzed to ensure compliance with international quality and safety standards, thereby enhancing product reliability, protecting consumer interests, and strengthening competitiveness in the global market.

These services are provided nationwide through laboratories located at the headquarters in Petaling Jaya, as well as 13 strategically located laboratories in Alor Setar, George Town, Ipoh, Melaka City, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu, ensuring comprehensive nationwide coverage and accessibility.
