This section is responsible for coordinating activities to ensure accuracy of analyses by providing reference materials for chemical testing and through Proficiency Testing (PT). This section comprises of two units i.e. the Proficiency Testing Unit and the Reference Materials Unit
Proficiency Testing Unit
· Preparation and distribution of JKM PT samples to participating chemical testing laboratories in Malaysia and
foreign countries.
· Coordinate participation of all Department laboratories in JKM PT
· Assessment of the competence of PT participating laboratories using international guidelines
· Coordinate participation of all Department laboratories in international PT schemes.
Reference Materials Unit
· Procurement of common standards such as narcotics drugs and toxicology standards, pesticide and metals standards and distribution to all the department’s laboratories
· Preparation and distribution of primary and secondary standards to all Department laboratories
· Preparation and distribution of matrix based reference materials.
