INTRODUCTION
The Dioxin and Furan Unit in Headquarters was established in 2002. This Unit offers scientific services for the analysis of dioxins and furans for the purpose of monitoring and enforcement of Environment Quality Regulations (Dioxins & Furans) 2004. The Unit is well equipped with the state-of-the art instrumentations for sample preparations and determination of dioxin and furan compounds at low levels.
The technology used is time saving and environmentally friendly compared to conventional technology. Since 2003, the Unit has been receiving samples from the Department of Environment Malaysia which collects from incinerators located at various parts of the country. All the initiatives taken above are to safeguard the public and to ensure that the country's prosperity and public health is taken care of.
